Is safety a priority?
A: At Sunshine, safety is our # 1 priority. A formal attendance check is the first order of business each afternoon. Subsequent attendance checks take place every half hour or any time a child moves from one location to another. All groups supervisors have walkie talkies to keep constant communication with the Front Desk personnel and other Sunshine Administration. Sunshine has a strict release policy. We will only release your child to an adult that you give permission to. If someone comes to pick up your child and they are not on your pick list and have no photo identification, your child will not be released.

What type of staff members work with my child during After School Care?
A: Sunshine takes great pride in employing fully qualified individuals. All Sunshine staff members are fingerprinted by Child Care Licensing and Broward County (FBI background check), drug tested, and required to pass 40 hours of formal training (Child Care Licensing).
Our staff must have the following requirements in order to be hired:
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Must be a high school graduate
- Must take and pass a drug test
- Must have a physical done every 2 years
- Must get fingerprinted by the County and the State
- Must be screened through the FBI
- Must complete CPR and First Aid training
- Must complete 40 hours of Child Care training
What types of daily activities are provided during After School Care?
A: Children participating in Sunshine's After School Care programs are placed into grade appropriate groups. During After School Care hours, students receive snack and juice, homework assistance, physical education, cultural arts activities, arts and crafts and organized indoor/outdoor games.
What type of snacks do we distribute to the children?
We offer 100% juice (apple or fruit punch) and healthy snacks (ex. gold fish, pretzels, animal crackers) to our children.
Does Sunshine have an established behavior plan?
A: YES – The Broward County Student Code of Conduct Book standards are followed in all of our programs. In addition, we align our program with individual school's discipline and safety plans. Sunshine has a very structured “Daily protocol” in place for all counselors and children to follow.
Does Sunshine have an emergency procedure in place?
Yes. Sunshine follows the school boards code of conduct and safety and security procedures. Our staff and Administration are all trained in the safety codes and what to do in all types of emergencies. Sunshine's number one priority is the safety of your children. Each of our sites has a weather radio that we use under the guideline of the school board in case an emergency weather broadcast that may occur.
Does Sunshine provide service for special education students?
A: YES – We meet the parent and school specialist to learn about the child's needs and we try to make every accommodation possible to include the child in our regularly scheduled program. We work closely with the families and schools on a case-by-case basis. Why do I need to enter my Password?
A: Sunshine takes your Child's Safety seriously. We have implemented this saftey mechanism to make sure you are Authorized to access your Child's account. If you do not remember the Password you placed with us, please give me the Main Office a call at 954-236-8850.

Are There Sibling Discounts?

How do I Apply for Financial Aid?
A: If you are interested in Financial Aid, you must provide us with a Free & Reduced Lunch slip. All parents must pay period #1 in full. Only 10% of the After Care enrollment of each site will be eligible for Financial Aid, and is on First Come, First Served basis. |
